You BRUTES! Words can hurt, you know. Sniff. Via First Draft. EDIT: Well, hello, hundreds of U.S. News readers. Kind of a letdown, wasn't it? Go look at some of the other stuff, including the comics which I am happy to do for slick paper national publications with cash to burn and/or marginal standards.

Colbert's speech absolutely ruled. They all deserved every barb, and hopefully Bush'll finally know what people really think of him.

So Bush and his "double" got better reviews from the same news media that have been shilling for him for 5 years? Surprise, surprise.

Much of Colbert's act wasn't particularly funny, but he apparently wasn't trying to be. Bush is as funny as a heart attack, and the only humor appropriate to him is black humor.

anon - yeah, I didn't think his speech was hysterical, either. It mighthave gotten a smile out of me a few times, had I read it cold. But the speech and the setting and the delivery and the reaction all add up to far more than the sum of the parts.

Wasn't that supposed to be a presidential ROAST? Well, that's just what Colbert did. The people who gave Bush better reviews are probably the types who think knock-knock jokes are funny. Maybe Bush will have a second career as a stand-up comedian once he leaves office ... or gets impeached. Whichever comes first.
